When asked to think about a church many people might think of a steeple. We don’t have that. Some may conjure pictures of beautiful stained glass. We don’t have that either. Some might think of a mighty cathedral built out of blocks of sandstone…you guessed it, we don’t have that. But according to the Bible, none of those things make up a church. In fact, the church in the bible knows nothing of steeples and stained glass. The bible describes the church as the foundation of truth, the bride of Christ and a family of believers. (1 Timothy 3:15 and 2 Corinthians 11:2) While we don’t have many of the things that you might think of as a church, we do have people who find security by using God’s word as a foundation for their lives. You will find people who love Jesus and are looking forward to his return. You will find people who are part of a family that supports one another and encourages one another to reach out into our world with the love of Jesus. We may not be a perfect church, but we trust in our Savior Jesus who makes us perfect through His sacrifice.
